Feature Guide: Magic Entities

[demo gif]

Overview

Magic Entities make entities do things, not just label things. When an entity matches certain keywords, brainful unlocks special behavior automatically. This gives you powerful functionality without adding new buttons, menus, or setup. It just works based on the entities you already use. Magic Entities apply to blocks, blockrefs, and threads.

Purpose

The goal of Magic Entities is simple: turn your entities into smart triggers. Instead of being just tags, they now tell brainful how a feature should behave. You get more functionality, cleaner workflows, and no added complexity.

Use Cases

Different keywords unlock different behaviors:
  • Stickykeeps a block permanently open across blockspaces, handy for planners or always-visible notes.
  • Announcementmakes updated blocks automatically reappear for all contributors so nobody misses changes.
  • Templateturns a block into a copyable template with a copy block action pill.
  • Countingturns entities with multiple references into a graph view for tracking metrics over time.
  • Readonly prevents non-creators from editing.
  • Hiddenor Confidentialrestricts access, removes recommendations, blocks external AI access, and adds a secondary loading screen.
Magic Entities are most helpful anytime you want blocks to behave a certain way just by tagging them.
